Immigrant 'sanctuary cities' safer, Bothwell argues

ASHEVILLE — As he works to bar city employees from participating in the enforcement of federal immigration law, Asheville City Councilman Cecil Bothwell has repeatedly said the proposal would improve public safety.

“I think the basic thing is if immigrant people trust the local police, they report crimes. It’s building trust,â€

What a joke this is. It only enables crime and criminals to live undected. Since when do criminals in communities need to build the trust of police. All they have to do is cry and lie about "sanctuary violations" and the police are handicapped.

That probably causes them to take the law into their own hands using revenge or gang retaliation.

Am I understanding that an elected official has specific information on unreported crimes and has done nothing?

Chicago is a sanctuary city. Chicago has a gun ban. How's that working out for them?
