LAKE FOREST -- A Mundelein man who according to police apparently passed out at the wheel with his foot on the brake pedal on the Route 60 bridge over the Tri-State Tollway faces several charges, including felony driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of a fraudulent ID.
Adalberto Aguirre, 31, of 438 Midway Drive, was charged with two counts of felony DUI, obstructing the flow of traffic, driving without a valid license, driving without insurance, illegal transportation of alcohol and possession of a fake state identification card after the Monday incident, according to Lake County sheriff's reports.

Police were called after Aguirre's car remained stationary through several traffic signal rotations, and a driver behind him could not arouse him by pounding on the car's windows. Aguirre appeared to be asleep behind the wheel with his arms crossed and a half empty beer on the armrest, according to reports.

After sheriff's deputies also could not awaken Aguirre by pounding on his window, blocks were placed behind the car's wheels because the vehicle was still in drive and officers were concerned his foot might come off the brake.

Sheriff's deputies and Lake Forest police placed squad cars in front of and behind the car and eventually gained access to the vehicle. Paramedics then woke him up and he was arrested, police said.
