Kennedy, Kerry to visit immigrants in wake of raid

Mar 11, 2007
NEW BEDFORD — Members of the state's congressional delegation will visit the city today to meet with immigrant families affected by Tuesday's raid, their staff said.
U.S. Sens. Edward M. Kennedy and John F. Kerry will be visiting Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church at 1 p.m. at 233 County St. They will be joined by U.S. Reps. Barney Frank and William Delahunt. Mayor Scott W. Lang also will attend.
Sen. Kerry yesterday requested an investigation into the raid and wrote to Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, asking for answers. Sen. Kerry also has been in contact with Mayor Lang to determine what help is needed, and he is pushing for the return of all detainees to the state, according to his office.
