We are trying to get the 287g here in Forsyth County North Carolina.
It's looking good. But, you know how that is....

I will be actively engaging the Iredell County administrators here in North Carolina to adopt 287(g). I spoke to a sargeant in the Mecklenberg County's office and he said he sees evidence of illegals bailing out of Mecklenberg and going to surrounding counties where there is no 287(g)

This could, in a perverse way, be a good thing. If they start escaping to counties that don't have the 287g those counties will be under the gun to adopt it as well.

Good Point. It would be interesting to see statistics of illegal alien impacts to surrounding counties after another county adpots 287(g). The stats probably don't exist, though, or are unreliable since so few police make any attempt to establish if an arrested criminal in a non-287(g) county is a legal citizen.

How do we get this going in Wake County, NC? I know Sheriff Harrison is interested in doing this, but I guess from what you guys are saying, it is up to the county commisioners? In that case, we may be up the creek! Where do we start though? I know there are several of us from Wake County in ALIPAC, maybe we could push enough to make something happen?

For more information on 287g go to:

Most of the time it's up to the Sheriff and the Commisioners....
