Immigration "Tea Parties" In Denver, Durango

DENVER (AP) ― People who oppose planned legislation to overhaul the nation's immigration system are protesting around the country with "tea parties."

Denver and Durango are among the 50 cities where the protests are planned Saturday as part of a movement called Tea Parties Against Amnesty & Illegal Immigration.

The protesters are voicing opposition to plans by Illinois Rep. Luis Gutierrez to introduce what the group is calling "amnesty legislation" by the end of November.

Protesters were meeting on the west steps of the state Capitol in Denver at 10 a.m. and in Durango at Santa Rita Park at 1 p.m.
