U.S. BORDER PATROL Weekly Blotter: (03/30/2011)

Border Patrol agents seized over 16,547 pounds of marijuana, 45.7 pounds of heroin and five pounds of phencyclidine (PCP). Agents arrested 16 criminal aliens and eight gang members. There were five rocking incidents.

Marfa Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 395 pounds of marijuana, a GMC truck, and arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Bakersfield, Texas. The agents located the vehicle and the illegal alien driver after he drove the vehicle through a ranch fence. A search of the vehicle revealed the marijuana.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Hidalgo, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for child sex abuse and an active warrant of arrest for escape issued in the District of Columbia. The subject had also been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested seven nationals of Mexico and seized 1,840 pounds of marijuana near Lukeville, Arizona. Agents were responding to suspicious activity when they discovered the marijuana and seven individuals hiding in the immediate area.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Big Fields, Arizona. The subject claimed to have been kidnapped and sexually assaulted by unknown assailants prior to her arrest. The case was referred to the appropriate authorities for investigation.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 235 pounds of marijuana near Rio Rico, Arizona. Agents responded to a report of an ultralight aircraft (ULA) incursion and recovered the marijuana at the suspected drop zone. The ULA was observed returning to Mexico.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the Sureños gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.


Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Laredo, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had prior convictions for sexual assault of a child and assault causing bodily injury in the state of Texas. The subject had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Falfurrias, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had an active federal warrant of arrest for cocaine trafficking in the state of Virginia.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Granjeno, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for incest involving a minor in the state of Texas, and had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 2,326 pounds of marijuana, a Chevrolet truck, and arrested two illegal aliens from Mexico near Sullivan City, Texas. Upon seeing agents approaching, the subjects fled the area and attempted to abscond. The subjects were captured with the assistance of a CBP Office of Air and Marine air asset.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 784 pounds of marijuana and a Chevrolet truck near Cuevitas, Texas. The driver of the vehicle fled from agents and abandoned the truck at the Rio Grande River. Agents recovered the marijuana from the vehicle.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,625 pounds of marijuana near Lukeville, Arizona. The marijuana was discovered concealed in a dry wash.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,753 pounds of marijuana and a Ford truck near Patagonia, Arizona. Agents discovered the vehicle abandoned and a search revealed the marijuana inside the truck.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Deming, New Mexico. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Paisas gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history, including a prior conviction for transporting illegal aliens. The subject had also been previously removed from the United States.


Marfa Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Marfa, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for aggravated criminal sexual assault with a weapon in the state of Illinois. The subject had also been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Rachal, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had an active warrant of arrest for sexual assault issued in the state of Texas.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Sarita, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for voluntary manslaughter in the state of Illinois, and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 45.7 pounds of heroin, 1,912 pounds of marijuana, and a Chevrolet Suburban near Casa Grande, Arizona. Agents observed the vehicle driving toward them with its headlights off and then veer off-road. Agents followed the tire tracks and found the Suburban abandoned. A search of the vehicle revealed the marijuana and the heroin.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. Records checks revealed the subject was a convicted sex offender and had been previously removed from the United States.


El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the South Side Indio gang. Records checks revealed the subject had prior convictions for burglary and robbery, and had been previously removed from the United States.


Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Laredo, Texas. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the Sureño 13 gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and an active warrant of arrest for possession of a controlled substance issued in the state of California. The subject had also been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Falfurrias, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the 18th Street gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,781 pounds of marijuana and a Ford truck near Patagonia, Arizona. The vehicle containing the marijuana was found abandoned in the desert.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Imperial Gangsters gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from the Dominican Republic near Kingsville, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and several active warrants of arrest for distribution of cocaine issued in the state of Massachusetts.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,244 pounds of marijuana and arrested two nationals of Mexico near Lukeville, Arizona. Agents observed the subjects smuggling suspected contraband and responded to the area, where they encountered the subjects and the marijuana.

Del Rio Sector – Border Patrol agents assisted local law enforcement officers with the arrest of two illegal aliens from Mexico near Batesville, Texas. One of the subjects had an extensive criminal history, an active warrant of arrest for flight/escape from detention, and had been previously removed from the United States. The other subject had a prior conviction for assault causing bodily injury to a family member and was wanted in connection with the stabbing assault of his spouse the previous day.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,287 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested an illegal alien from Mexico at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. A subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.

Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents rescued a subject in distress from the Rio Grande River near Laredo, Texas. A CBP Office of Air and Marine asset observed a subject in distress and reported the sighting to agents nearby. The agents responded to the area, entered the river and safely brought the subject to shore.


Marfa Sector – Border Patrol agents seized five pounds of liquid phencyclidine (PCP), a minivan, and arrested five United States Citizens at the traffic checkpoint near Sierra Blanca, Texas. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle and a subsequent search by agents uncovered the PCP. Records checks revealed all five subjects had criminal histories, and one had an active warrant of arrest for felony controlled substance violations issued in the state of Virginia.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,318 pounds of marijuana and arrested two nationals of Mexico near Lukeville, Arizona. Agents located the marijuana and both subjects in the desert.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Cowlic, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for lewd and lascivious conduct with a minor under 14 in the state of California, and had been previously removed from the United States.
