Having said that, we cannot condone the actions of those among the 300-plus counter protesters who reportedly yelled racist slurs and hurled a full water bottle at a 66-year-old female SOS member, sending her to the hospital.

Nor do we appreciate the reported trampling of an American flag. In that respect, some in the crowd did indeed validate SOS leader Joseph Turner's claim that the counter protest was un-American. These aren't the Baldwin Park residents we know and suspect some outside agitators were on hand.
Yeah, that’s it, there were some outsiders committing assault and burning a flag at an anti-American piece of "art". Thank you Mr. Turner for your protest and the rest who risked their lives for their first amendment rights.

Well.......gosh darn.....I guess Save Our State needs to check with the local newspaper to learn HOW to exercise their rights of free speech....otherwise they might need to apologize for having done so!

Are there rules according to newspapers on how we citizens should protest our Government?

Lets analyze: They protested the City of Baldwin Park, for a Monument the City commissioned, that's placed on City Property and was paid for with City Money that offended them because it appeared to the protestors to be a symbol of La Reconquista....something that the protestors consider anti-American. Is this benign art? Or is it activist art? Or is it art at all?

Me thinks....that when 300 (newspaper) to 500 (SOS) counter-protestors show up angy, racist, ugly and violent in greater numbers than the protestors to DEFEND benign art, then probably the art is not benign afterall. The art meant something to the counter-protestors....something angry, racist, ugly and violent as expressed by their Actions.

Actions Speak Louder Than Either Words or Art.....

I believe that was probably the whole point of the Protest which the Counter-Protestors proved through their Actions at the Protest.

You know what they say......give them a podium, a microphone, and a water bottle....and they'll step in their own mess every time.

Benign art......yeah right.....about as benign as that water bottle that sent a 66 year old woman to the hospital!!

When I read this, I thought of the propaganda I read so often on Al Jazeera. I am appalled at this entire situation. More so after I read the water bottle likely came from the city council. Water for the troops? Give me a break!
