    Deportation glitch

Border Patrol relieves plight of minors

    2:00 a.m. June 18, 2009

    - What's wrong with this picture? The turnstiles at the U.S.-Mexican border typically go in one direction when illegal immigrants are removed from this country. Of course, illegal immigrants often cross back into the United States after being deported – but certainly not with the help of U.S. authorities.

And yet this week three undocumented minors were returned to the United States after being repatriated to Mexico on May 20. Thanks to a rarely used procedure, the three were given “humanitarian paroleâ€

What it needs to do now is put in place the necessary rules to make sure that this kind of mistake doesn't happen again.
I don't get it. What mistake was made? 21 illegal aliens were arrested at the trolley and 21 were deported. Why should a 16 or 17 year old illegal alien get a break? We have 14-17 year old illegals coming into this country every day without a legal guardian.

it looks like none of those procedures was followed.
    Speculation
Parents were notified but not soon enough, and when the Mexican consulate heard about the arrests, word came not from the Border Patrol but from the parents of the minors.
That's because the school notified the parents. If I recall correctly, the teens were on a field trip.
The government obviously decided to try to right this wrong

No, No, No... BP didn't do anythig wrong. Immigration Law does not say, if they are minors treat them like this... Frankly, returning them to the US was WRONG!!!!!!!! Do some real reporting, tell me who made that decision and did it come from the White House.

That was Policy Amnesty, and not Immigration Law. All this Obama administration going around our laws has got to stop.

    dear compañera/os,

yesterday morning, as one of my 16 year old female students waited at the Old Town trolley station to go to school, she was approached by border patrol agents and asked for "papers" - she showed them her school ID and explained that she was on her way to school

No one has mentioned a word if the parents are here illegally.

You can tell that the parents are illegal because they aren't making a big deal about the parents being legal and their kids should be allowed to stay with them.
