Yuma AZ June 11- It's been nearly a month since two Yuma border patrol agents died in a fatal accident involving a train. Saturday morning, runners showed support to the families at the inaugural Rojas and Clark Memorial Fun Run. However, prior to taking off the wives of Rojas and Clark spoke to the crowd, thanked them for attending, and cheered them on.

Neddy Clark, Hector Clark's Wife was touched by how many people showed up and told the crowd "Because of you me and my family stand strong and I stand so proud to see how many of you guys have come out here to support us. I am so proud just to go on making it everyday because I turn around and I see everyone and I know I'm not alone."

The event kicked off at 6:30 Saturday morning and participants tell us they didn't just attend to get in a morning run, but to show their support. Michelle Dominique says, "I respect anybody whether men or women who are in these jobs. My husband's in the Marine Core, he puts his life out there for the country. Border patrol and police officers they put their life out for the citizens of whatever city their in so it's a great job, but it's also a great risk."

Waldemar Clark and his friend were also at the run showing their support. Waldemar whose cousin is Hector Clark tells News 13 what he thinks about the memorial run. He says, "I think it's great, it's a great honor. It's a good thing their doing for the community to remember the agents that have fallen, not only Hector and agent Rojas, but all of them."

Overall hundreds of people were at Smucker Park to show their support for the memorial run and what I'm told by organizers is they plan on making this an annual event. Rafael Chacon, a Border Agent for the Yuma sector who organized the event says it's his way of never forgetting his former comrades. He says, "The idea is to have this thing turn into something bigger and run through the heart of the town and get everybody on board. So, right about this time next year hopefully about a month earlier we'll be doing this event again."
