Gov. Rick Perry has arrived in Derry for his first New Hampshire town hall since joining the race. Outside Adams Memorial Opera House, a half-dozen protesters gathered, engaging in a bit of political street theater.

One woman wearing an oversize sombrero and colorful Mexican poncho held a sign that read "Thanks for the in-state tuition" - reminding voters about Perry's defense of a 2001 state law providing discounted college tuition to Texas residents who arrived in the United States illegally and still aren't citizens.

"He's my candidate, because he takes care of my needs," she said, her heavy New England accent belying the costume. "I have three children. We got into Texas and all of them got that instate tuition deal - that's $300,000 less than a native-born New Hampshire citizen would have to pay. He takes care of us. Rick Perry has got a big heart. And anybody who doesn't like it is heartless."

She refused to give her real name. "They'd deport me. I can't," she insisted.
