Homeland Security crafting guidelines for enforcing immigration law

Local authorities expect final draft next week

CULLMAN — Local law enforcement officials awaiting guidelines on how to carry out the state’s new immigration law should receive that guidance sometime next week.

According to John Schremser, a public relations officer with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Alabama office, officials at the state and federal level are currently working on guidelines that will be passed along to law enforcement agencies at the local level.
