A large percentage of the fruit grown in America is exported out of this country. A large percentage of the labor harvesting it and taking care of the trees it grows on in America are imported.
Any one here see any thing wrong with that deal? What came first , the illegal immigrant or the exporting of a vast amount of American fruit to populations that will pay more for it then the Americans living and working in the lands where it was grown?
Bring in cheap fruit and nuts from other countries and selling our premium crops to other nations. So , who is getting screwed in the quality department as the end consumer on such a deal ?
Remember the dust bowl and the days of the great depression if you are that old , otherwise go to the local library and read up on it. Americans starving to death were shot and killed for attempting to take surplus crops out of rotting piles to feed their dying families.
Government sponsored corporate agriculture at it's best. No one is starving today , maybe tomorrow if they find a better market for their ill gotten gains.
