    Watch Hate Bill Hearings Tomorrow

    Watch Hate Bill Hearings Tomorrow
    By Rev. Ted Pike
    4-22-9

Interviewed today on one of the largest evangelical/conservative talk shows, "Point of View" (400 affiliates), I invited more than a million Christians to watch Rep. Conyer's hate bill hearings tomorrow morning.

In my opinion, HR1913 is the most dangerous legislation ever to come before Congress. It surpasses even the Federal Reserve Act of 1913. If passed it will lead us immediately into a hate crimes judicial system and bureaucracy like Canada's, where pastors, talk show hosts, even private citizens can be indicted as federal hate criminals if they criticize Islam, homosexuality, or illegal immigrants.

Will Conyers give this grave issue the time and attention it deserves? Last Congress, he allowed two and half days of spirited debate. The controversy generated by eleven bulldog Republicans, criticizing his hate bill and proposing amendments, drew attention to the hate law issue in Congress and spread rebellion throughout 180 House Republicans. This resulted in no less than six major Orwellian bills being defeated or set aside in the 110th Congress. Conyers doesn't want that to happen again!

Tell as many as possible to tune in tomorrow morning!

What: House Judiciary hearings on HR 1913, The Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act.

    When: 10:15 A.M. EDT, Wednesday, April 22nd.

Where: http://judiciary.house.gov/hearings/caltoday.html Click the "Watch Video Webcast" icon. (The latest version of RealPlayer is needed to view the video.)

Regardless of what is said and done tomorrow, only one day of hearings (probably less), without adequate notification of expert witnesses is a high-handed, unethical end-run around the accepted legislative process.

Watch the hearings. Then speak out loudly in church, on talk shows, internet, etc.

Demand that the hate bill buck stop in the House Judiciary - not on the desk of a president determined to sign it!

    'Hateful words' may be prosecutable

A Democratic congresswoman's candid remarks in the House Judiciary Committee yesterday bolster the fears of Americans who are concerned they one day may be convicted of a "hate crime" for merely publicly expressing their opposition to homosexuality [or immigration status, or obesity, for that matter].

The Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act was reported out of the Judiciary Committee yesterday [Thursday, April 23] in the House (see earlier story). The bill, which is expected to face a vote in the full House on Wednesday, would add gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, and disability to the list of protected categories under federal hate crimes law.

Proponents of the hate crimes bill claim that Christians and others who speak out publicly against homosexuality are not threatened with the same type of prosecution that criminals would face for committing acts of violence against homosexuals and transgender people.

In response, Judiciary Committee chairman John Conyers (D-Michigan), a co-sponsor of the measure, stated: "The bill only applies to bias-motivated violent crimes and does not impinge public speech or writing in any way."

However, during the Judiciary Committee markup yesterday, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-Texas) reinforced the notion that people could be prosecuted for having a particular belief. "We also need to protect those potential victims who may be the recipients of hateful words or hateful acts, or even violent acts," said the Democratic lawmaker.

Congressman Louie Gohmert (R-Texas), a former judge, offered several amendments that would have provided religious-freedom protections from hate crimes prosecution, but they were all rejected by Democrats on the Judiciary Committee.

Texans, send your thanks to Rep. Gohmert for attempting to protect us from a flood of litigation.
This bill isn't going to help crime victims as much as the lawyers whom the Democrats represent at the trough.
One man's terrorist is another man's undocumented worker.

Unless we enforce laws against illegal aliens today,
tomorrow WE may wake up as illegals.

The last word: illegal aliens are ILLEGAL!
