Panel critical of R.I.’s immigration efforts

PROVIDENCE –– Governor Carcieri was not among the hundreds of Dominicans, Hispanic leaders and national immigration experts gathered downtown for the Dominican American National Roundtable’s annual conference this weekend.

But he was a constant topic of conversation.

In an event that drew an estimated 500 people from across the country, Rhode Island’s Republican governor — and more specifically his recent efforts to enforce federal immigration laws — played a central role.

“From a spiritual perspective, we feel like it’s a blessing to have the conference here. This state is going through a lot, especially with Governor Carcieri,â€

Please e-mail or call Gov. Carcieri's office and thank for him for taking these common sense measures against illegal immigration and remind him that he has the support of citizens in RI and across the country. Don't let the shrill voices of the pro-amnesty cabal drown us out:

Isn't it always the squeaky wheel that gets the grease? Unfortunately, Americans, except for a few in media, are not being squeaky enough. Nor, apparently, has anyone been able to shut down the illegal alien lobby. IMO, the legal American citizens have been relegated to nothing more than annoying gnats in the face of corporate interests and political agendas. Angry does not even begin to explain what I feel right now.
