WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) -- An Alamance County librarian accused of living in the U.S. illegally for 20 years was arrested for deportation seconds after a judge ruled she could be released to home incarceration.

At a hearing in federal court this afternoon, Judge Russell Eliason signed an order of release, allowing Marxavi Angel Martinez to stay at the home of a friend, but shortly after she was released, agents from Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) shackled to begin the deportation process.

A former co-worker, Marilyn Tyler, was one of about a dozen supports who came to the Hiram H. Ward Federal Building to support Martinez.

"It saddens me and I find it outrageous. I know they think they have good reasons for this. I wish they could make them clearer to us," she said.

Martinez, 23 and a Mexican national, has been living in the United States since she was 3. She had been working as a librarian in Alamance County until ICE agents received a tip that she was in the country illegally. She has no immediate family in Mexico.

She was arrested last week by federal agents. The criminal complaint filed against Martinez in U.S. District Court indicates the librarian was using a deceased person's Social Security number.

Martinez's husband, Marcos Miranda, was arrested recently for being in the country illegally as well. Miranda said the two attended Cummings High School together. They married two years ago and have a 15-month-old son.

Martinez's father, mother and sister were also in the courtroom today. On Tuesday, they turned themselves over to ICE, admitting they were in the country illegally after overstaying their visa 20 years ago.

The entire family is expected to be deported to Cancun
