CHARLOTTE, N.C., Jan. 12 (UPI) -- A guilty plea to sex trafficking charges has been entered by a 40-year-old Mexican national accused of operating a brothel in Charlotte, N.C.

Filemon Guzman-Martinez pleaded guilty Wednesday to transporting individuals in interstate commerce for prostitution, enticing individuals to travel in interstate commerce for prostitution and unlawful transportation of an alien, the Charlotte Observer reported.

Guzman-Martinez was accused of operating a residential brothel in the city.

"Sex trafficking is a horrible crime that treats sex as a commodity and exploits vulnerable persons for financial benefit," U.S. Attorney Anne Tompkins said. "This case provides a window into the underground world of sex trafficking and shows that it happens in communities like ours."

Federal prosecutors say Guzman-Martinez solicited prospective prostitution customers with business cards featuring his cell phone number, pictures of women in sexually suggestive poses and the question, "What do you have to lose?"

Customers would then call the defendant to request a prostitute, authorities said.

Guzman-Martinez faces a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison, the Observer reported.

Charlotte “Sex trafficker” will cost taxpayers millions of dollars!

Human trafficking is the illegal trade of human beings for the purposes of reproductive slavery, commercial sexual exploitation, forced labor, or a modern-day form of slavery.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – He is accused of soliciting men around town with business cards featuring women in sexually suggestive positions. The men would then call him and he would negotiate a price and send prostitutes to meet them at various locations to preform various sex acts.

That wasn’t the half of it!

“It turns out this guy was also an illegal alien from Mexico, who not only openly violated our immigration laws but unlawfully trafficked women across the border into the United States for the purposes of prostitution and operating a “brothel” in the city of Charlotte N.C.”, said Isabell McDonald of Charlotte.

“He is typical of the kinds of criminal who violates our immigration laws and goes on to commit criminal acts in our community” ,says Truman Weeks of Charlotte, N.C. This man, Filemon Guzman-Martinez is also suspected of identity theft, international human trafficking, alien smuggling, operating a criminal enterprise and conspiracy - are all crimes which will never be investigated as such. Neither will his ties to various organized crime in Mexico”, he said.

MEXICO – “HE IS NOT OUR PROBLEM”!

One Mexican consulate official, who refused to give his name said: “This man is not our problem. We will not pay for the cost to keep him in prison in your country. That’s one you!”

    COST TO TAXPAYERS TRULY STAGGERING!

When it is all said and done he will wind up costing taxpayers millions of dollars over many years. “He is just one individual, multiply that millions of times and you get an idea of the true cost of illegal immigration by habitual criminals into the United States”, says Samantha Craven of Charlotte. “Each and every year he spends in prison will cost us as taxpayers in excess of what it would cost to provide a all tuition paid university education to a student in North Carolina. Those costs are truly staggering, when you calculate them”, she said.

    PLEA DEAL FOR LESSER SENTENCE

In order to avoid stiffer criminal penalties Filemon Guzman-Martinez entered a “guilty plea” in court and faces a possible sentence of 30 years in prison!

Filemon Guzman-Martinez pleaded guilty Wednesday to transporting individuals in “interstate commerce” for prostitution, enticing individuals to travel in interstate commerce for prostitution and unlawful transportation of an illegal alien, according to one police insider.
