US Border Patrol Weekly Blotter: September 17 - September 23

(09/24/2009)Border Patrol agents seized over 3,716 pounds of marijuana, 20.83 pounds of methamphetamine, and 30 pounds of Ecstasy. Agents arrested 12 criminal aliens and 11 gang members. There were 4 rocking incidents.

Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents reported that an illegal alien from El Salvador assaulted an agent near Hebbronville, Texas. As the agent attempted to make the arrest, the subject became combative and a struggle ensued. The agent subdued the subject and effected the arrest. Records checks revealed the subject had previously been removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Weslaco, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Mara Salvatrucha 13 (MS-13) gang. Records checks revealed the subject had also been previously removed from the United States.


San Diego Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 20.83 pounds of methamphetamine, a 1985 Honda Civic, and arrested a national of Mexico at the traffic checkpoint in Pine Valley, California. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. Agents conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered the narcotics concealed in a false compartment under the rear seat.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Willcox, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had extensive criminal and immigration histories, to include: alien smuggling; aggravated assault with a deadly weapon; battery with a deadly weapon; false imprisonment of a child; and, child abuse. The subject also had been previously removed from the United States.

San Diego Sector – Border Patrol agents reported that a fleeing suspect attempted to run over two agents with his vehicle. Agents fired their weapons at the subject, who fled the scene in the vehicle. The subject was later arrested after a brief foot pursuit, and was taken to a local hospital for injuries received during the incident.


Swanton Sector – Border Patrol agents seized approximately 30 pounds (approximately 50,000 pills) of Ecstasy tablets, a 2007 Jeep Cherokee, and arrested a United States Citizen (USC) at a traffic checkpoint near North Hudson, New York. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the rear of the vehicle. A subsequent search revealed the narcotics concealed in an aftermarket hydraulic compartment.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. Record checks revealed the subject was a convicted sex offender and had previously been removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near La Joya, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being an MS-13 gang member. Records checks revealed he had an active arrest warrant for sexual conduct with a minor under 11 years old in the State of South Carolina.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 205 pounds of marijuana, an ultralight aircraft (ULA), and arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Nogales, Arizona. Agents and CBP Office of Air and Marine assets were notified of the incursion, deployed to the area, and intercepted the ULA.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. Records checks revealed the subject had an active arrest warrant for a sexual offense against a child in the State of Florida, and that he had been previously removed from the United States.


Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Guatemala near Laredo, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being an MS-13 gang member and records checks revealed that he had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 2,181 pounds of marijuana, a 2009 Dodge Ram pickup, a 2007 travel trailer, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Sarita, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. A search revealed the marijuana concealed behind a false wall within the trailer.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico while assisting local law enforcement officials near Stanfield, Arizona. During processing, the subject admitted to being a Sureno 13 gang member. Records checks revealed he had been previously removed from the United States and had an extensive criminal history, to include a conviction for homicide-negligent manslaughter with a vehicle.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Sells, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had prior convictions for rape by force, sexual assault, and lewd or lascivious acts with a minor under 14 years old. The subject had also been previously removed from the United States.


Yuma Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Yuma, Arizona. During processing, the subject admitted to being an MS-13 gang member, and records checks revealed he had been previously removed from the United States.

Del Rio Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Eagle Pass, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a Paisas gang member, and records checks revealed he had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,330 pounds of marijuana, a 1999 tractor-trailer, and arrested two nationals of Mexico at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. The subjects presented themselves for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed the marijuana packed in cardboard boxes on pallets.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Las Cruces, New Mexico. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for attempted injury to a child in the State of Texas, and had been previously removed from the United States.


Marfa Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Fort Stockton, Texas. Record checks revealed the subject had been convicted of voluntary manslaughter in the State of Georgia and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Tucson, Arizona. Record checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for sexual abuse/crime against a child in the State of Arizona, and had been previously removed from the United States.

Miami Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Fort Lauderdale, Florida. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the 18th Street gang and an associate of the MS-13 gang.


Swanton Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Colombia after the subject illegally entered the United States near Derby Line, Vermont. Records checks revealed the subject had been previously removed from the United States and had an extensive criminal history. His criminal history included: convictions in State of Virginia for credit card fraud and grand larceny; convictions in the State of New York for forgery and grand larceny; and, an active arrest warrant in the State of Nevada for burglary.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Honduras near Three Points, Arizona. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the MS-13 gang. Records checks revealed he had been previously removed from the United States and had an extensive criminal history in the State of California, including a conviction for robbery.
