    Unions blast

The Unions are admitting to illegal hiring practices.

The Change to Win group wants the same rights for illegal workers that American citizens enjoy.......

Let's send the letters, hold the employers accountable, and see what happens. I bet more illegals than legal workers have a problem following the rules.

    Full steam ahead!

The Unions can't have it both ways.

USCOC must have a rapidly declining membership, if it's this desperate. I know alot of companies that have pulled their membership from the COC. They're too expensive and do nothing for US businesses.

Labor unions say most Social Security Number discrepancies involve legal workers.
If true, wouldn't unions want to help their members by notifying them that something is wrong with their SS number so as to give them the opportunity to investigate the problem? how long would it take to verify your in this country legally?

I suspect not. The real reason is unions could care less if they have millions of illegals among their ranks so long as they are card carrying, dues paying members!

Remember this the next time some union head starts crying about how illegals are taking away jobs from Americans!

    Yea, no thanks to you!

NoBueno - Unsubstantiated claims should not be taken very seriously.

You can believe such thing when it is accompanied by official stats. / sources from the US DHS/ICE. In the meantime, I suggest you fold your arms, and retort 'prove it!'

Plus, one confusing aspect of the debate on 'errors' with the respect to SSN and no-match letters, ('they' - the critics claim an error rate of about 4% DHS claims it to be more like 1%-2% now...) So, the real questions is:

    What is an error?

Just because a number doesn't match a name can that be translated automatically to signify an error. In some cases, the name and SSN WON'T match - and that is NOT an error (think contrived name and/or SSN) In some cases, the no-match uncovers the real problem in data handling or integrity.

    Or, consider this:

4% 'claimed' error rate in DHS SSN/No-Match db

170 million in US workforce, of that about 7 million or IA workers.
That represents guess what percentage overall? Yep, 4.1%

Of course, many of those IA workers are not going to have SSNs in the DHS database (for a number of reasons) but, some, especially workers that have been here a while and/or are more established stand a better chance at that... so *some* of that 4.1% is going to be at least *part* of the purported errors uncovered in the process. The DHS needs to investigate in detail the nature of these errors/problems and publish results to better document and support their efforts in this regard. The reality is probably that it works much better (accurately) than the critics want to admit.

Well, here is some "facts" which are not "unsubstantiated."

[quote]In its supplemental rule, DHS notes that the Social Security Administration does not send no-match letters in all cases. “Rather, these letters are only sent to employers whose wage reports reveal at least 11 workers with no-matches and where the total number of no-matches represents more than 0.5 % of the employer’s total (W-2 forms).â€
