Dozens of new federal prosecutors headed to border
    Posted: Friday, April 25, 2008 at 11:36 a.m.

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- The Justice Department says Texas will get 29 new federal prosecutors as part of an effort in border states to beef up prosecutions of drug and human smugglers, gun runners and illegal immigrants.

Deputy Attorney General Mark Filip announced the 64 new assistant U.S. attorney posts during a visit to southern Arizona today that also included a helicopter tour along the border and a stop at the port of entry in Nogales, Arizona.

Arizona will get 21 new prosecutors. California and New Mexico each will receive seven.

The Justice Department is allocating an additional $7 million to pay for the prosecutors and new support staff.

The funds are available immediately and for the next two years.

The Justice Department has requested another $100 million in its fiscal 2009 budget to help fight criminal activity along the border.

Our government talks tough about Iran and other countries...So why isn't this administration talking tough to Mexico instead of constantly pumping our tax payer money into Mexico. [/b]

I fully agree with sending more prosecutors. The faster we can try them the sooner they can be deported. It is past time for Mexico to help stem the flow of illegals and drugs to the US!
