Repeat offender, illegal alien will go to federal prison

Repeat offender, illegal alien will go to federal prison

CEDAR RAPIDS --- An Honduras citizen arrested 35 times but deported only once will spend up to 15 months in federal prison.

Selvin Hernandez-Flores, 33, was charged this summer in Toledo for public intoxication and possession of marijuana. After pleading guilty, Hernandez-Flores also admitted re-entering the U.S. illegally after deportation more than 12 years ago.

The 15-month penalty is more than twice the recommended length provided by sentencing guidelines.

In explaining her decision Friday, U.S. District Court Judge Linda Reade said Hernandez-Flores had used at least 18 names and birth dates when previously stopped by law enforcement officials. Judge Reade said that likely helped Hernandez-Flores avoid deportation.

What's the deal with all these arrests and nothing being done? Seems these guys have more of a record in a short time than most unruley citizens scrape together in a life-time.

Great! But is he going to ge deported once he completes his prision sentence? That point seems to be ambigious. If history is any indication, probably not....

I'm finding it unreal that while they pile things on to citizens arrests to make it bigger.....they rarely charge these people with half the crimes they do......then they get a slap on the wrist. I don't get it.

That's what I mean how there not respecting our laws anymore, they get deported cross back the next day, get deported, come back. I remember in the old days people coming from Mexico were low key they worked for a while made a little money and slipped back to mexico, not no more not satisifed with mowing lawn, now you see them applying for county jobs you know our good union job, they even apply for Welefare they don't care, we keep giving they keep taking, Hell they even stand in front of Home depo, they know that we know that their illegal and seem to thing they are untouchable.

Arrested 35 times! Has used 18 names!

This guy knows full well how to use the system.

He'll serve his term, get deported, be back, get arrested again, on and on it goes.

Do wonder what the 35 arrests were all for too.
