    We will be overtaken'

Ed Hayes, speaks Saturday at the Kansas Minuteman Defense Corps meeting at the American Legion. Hayes is the Director of the Kansas Chapter.
Emporia now has its own Minuteman Civil Defense Corps chapter.

The announcement came in a meeting on Saturday from Ed Hayes, director of the Kansas Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. The organization originally started as a group of people who would patrol the borders and report people illegally coming into the country.

“This is the border,” said Lex Price, who will head the local chapter. “We have to stop it here. When you join the chapter here, you join all the other chapters. Our power comes from joining together.

“We’re not white. We’re not black. We’re Americans. We’re patriotic Americans.”

Hayes said the Minuteman organization started less that two years ago. There are three chapters in Kansas, including Emporia. The organization has chapters in 40 states, with the goal of having chapters in all 50 states.

“They would get together and watch the border,” Hayes said about the organization’s roots. “We do not take action. We do not make contact with anyone. We watch and then report. We’re not the law.”

Hayes said the organization’s goal is to preserve the United States by preventing illegal aliens from entering the country and lowering the number of immigrants that are allowed into the country each year.

“The movement is to save our country as we know it today,” Hayes said. “There are so many people coming into our country.”

Price said the point of Saturday’s meeting was to get people together in the Emporia area.

“I want America like I knew it,” Price said. “We can get together as friends and gripe among ourselves, but the time has come and if we don’t join together and be proactive we will be overtaken. It’s a concerted effort to push us in the dark.”

Price said that U.S. citizens don’t have the same rights as illegal aliens and that more money in schools is put toward illegal aliens’ children than U.S. citizens’ children and the cost of health care is going up.

Price said that people who speak against illegal aliens are looked down upon.

“If you’re against them, you’re a racist, you’re a bigot,” Price said. “If we want to seal the border, we’re racist. We need to do something. If you don’t, they’ll pick us off one by one.”

    Hayes agrees.

“We’ve got a lot of people who are afraid to join because they are afraid to be called names,” Hayes said. “We get called all sorts of things, but the only way to get beyond that is to step up and not care what they call us.”

Hayes added that the organization is not made up of racist people.

“We’re not that,” he said. “We’re patriots.”

Minuteman is working with a Hispanic group out of Wichita called the People’s Alliance for Latino Advancement, Hayes said.

“They are American citizens,” Hayes said. “They are for our country. That shows that not all Hispanics want to have illegal aliens in the country.”

Hayes said the organization also is against what is called the NAFTA Superhighway. Hayes said the highway will run from Texas through the middle of the country on up into Canada.

“The plan is to erase our borders,” Hayes said. “What this is all about is to make Canada, America and Mexico a unified government just like Europe.”

Hayes added that the highway would be several lanes wide and there would be a “smart port” in Kansas City, where inspections would take place.

“That’s going to be sovereign Mexican territory,” Hayes said. “Same as their embassy in Washington, D.C. Who’s going to look at the trucks? It’s going to be Mexico.”

Larry Wiley, webmaster for the Kansas Minuteman, also talked about the superhighway.

“That corridor is going to cut this country in half,” Wiley said. He added that part of the highway is being built in Texas. “They’re taking land by imminent domain. It’s a pretty bad thing going on in Texas.”

One of the tasks of Minuteman is to educate the public, Hayes said.

“We need people to watch something else other than the 6 o’clock news on television,” he said. “People need to shop around.”

Hayes said the influx of illegal aliens is draining the United States’ resources.

“They’re ramped on our social services,” he said. “Social Security, food stamps, SRS, hospitals. A number of hospitals in the Southwest are going out of business. If they come in, they have to treat them.”

Hayes said the large number of foreign people coming into the United States are bringing in foreign diseases.

“They’re bringing in Third World diseases,” Hayes said. “Are illegal aliens coming in being checked for diseases? No.”

according to my dad back home Kansans are fighting hard at the KTA (HWY 35 toll road) being sold to NASCO for this. If they are successful that would leave NASCO to go through Western MO.

This highway will also cut right through the heart of Oklahoma, right up through the middle of it, it will only be about 60 miles South of of where I am it will run right up HW 69, some very good ranching country, I don't know how it will affect the people there adversely I would say!
Build the dam fence post haste!
