N.C. sheriff gets a look at what local officers face

SIERRA VISTA — Arizona’s Cochise County is about 1,600 miles — in a straight line — away from Rockingham County in North Carolina.

Cochise County’s nearly 6,000 square miles dwarfs the North Carolina county’s slightly less than 600 square miles.

But there is one thing both counties share — a concern about illegal immigration and the importation of drugs through the U.S. border with Mexico.
