Illegal workers booted, but what of their bosses?

Recent immigration raids in Hawaii have all ended the same way, with federal authorities quickly prosecuting and deporting workers who are working illegally.

But it isn’t clear what happens to the companies that hired them.

Even as they highlight their efforts to find illegal workers, federal officials in Hawaii have refused to release any information on fines or penalties paid by Hawaii employers implicated in immigration raids.↓


U.S. Attorney Ed Kubo declined to answer questions about employer penalties. Representatives of several companies found to have hired illegal workers either declined to talk to PBN or issued statements saying they are committed to following federal employment laws.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the largest division within the federal Department of Homeland Security and which oversees enforcement of immigration laws, has moved aggressively in recent months in Hawaii and on the Mainland, targeting companies that are “job magnetsâ€

IMO. I THINK THE FEDS PLAN TO BREAK THESE COMPANIES FINANCIALLY. IF THEY PROSECUTE THEM IT WILL DRAG ON IN COURT FOREVER AND COST THE TAXPAYERS MILLIONS....AS THOSE COMPANIES HAVE BIG BUCKS. BUT IF THEY HARASS THEM INTO FINANCIAL RUIN, THERE WOULD BE NO COURT OR LAWYERS OR EXPENSE TO THE TAXPAYER.....AND THE COMPANY WOULD END UP OUT OF BUSINESS. THIS WILL BE A WARNING TO OTHER HUGE COMPANIES WHO THINK THEY ARE ABOVE THE LAW.

Have these companies heard of E-verify?

The employers, the bosses, don't have to do anything but view and copy for filing in cabinet. They can hire anyone that shows up with a current green card, employers have not broken any laws but the illegals have. What a nice system for the employers? And the do nothing government since 1986's amnesty. The government, illegals, and employers have been fooling us, Americans royally.
