SILER CITY, N.C. -- One of four men arrested in connection to the kidnapping of a 2-year-old boy appeared in court Tuesday as authorities continued to search for the child and his father.
Francisco Rodriguez, 23, made an initial appearance in Chatham County District Court on an illegal gun possession charge after being arrested Monday, a court clerk said.

Authorities believe the child, Edwin Sanchez Gonzales, was taken at gunpoint from his mother's home in Siler City by his father and three other men early Sunday morning. The FBI, local law enforcement and immigration officers are looking for the father, Jorge Sanchez Aguilera.

Two other men - Marcelino Zamudio Tomas, 28, and Lorenzo Gonzales Coria, 18, the mother's brother - appeared in court Monday on charges of first-degree burglary and first-degree kidnapping. Both men, who live in Siler City, were scheduled to return to court Oct. 9.

A fourth man, Elvis Nino Hernandez, was arrested on an immigration detainer while driving an SUV believed to be the vehicle used in the abduction.
