Tea Parties prepare to protest amnesty

A grassroots immigration enforcement advocacy organization is calling on concerned Americans to take part in Tea Party events over the next several days to protest Congress's efforts to pass amnesty legislation for millions of illegal immigrants.

Thousands of concerned citizens are expected to take to the streets April 15-17 in an estimated 1,000 Tea Party events across the U.S. While most of the gatherings will focus on repeal of the healthcare bill, some will also spotlight on illegal immigration and the effort to grant amnesty to millions of people who are in the country illegally.

"These are the Tea Party events that are already structured, that have agreed to include prominently opposition to illegal immigration and opposition to amnesty as part of their Tea Parties," explains William Gheen, president of Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC). "We expect to have over 50 of those events listed at AgainstAmnesty.com by the 15th," he adds.

William Gheen (ALIPAC)Gheen believes concerned Americans must continue sending a strong message to Washington.

"It's time to take to the streets," he insists. "We've been calling; we've been lobbying. Washington is not listening to your calls, not listening to your faxes and your e-mails. It is time for Americans to get in the streets and stay in the streets and put pressure until this government falls and changes."

The ALIPAC president says Tea Party supporters who do not live within driving distance of one of the major events should take a sign to a local Tea Party gathering.
