Projected labor shortfall an argument for guest worker program

    by Sandra Haros/KTAR

The Bureau of Labor Statistics is projecting a shortfall of 10 million workers by 2010.

"What we have right now is simply a policy bottleneck," said Glen Hamer, president of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce.

"We have a broken system at the federal level.

Hamer believes the real solution to the immigration problem must happen at the federal level. Arizona, however, must lead the way with state legislation to avoid what could become a precarious situation.

"We believe that if an Arizona temporary guest worker program passes, it will be a very strong message to the United States Congress that it needs to address this issue."

The Arizona temporary guest worker proposal, which fell short of passing during the 2008 legislative session, will return next year.

    Do ya get it now?

Where is the protection for the American worker. These businesses can say anything they want and lie that they can't find workers. I think there should be certain things they must have to comply with before they can bring in foreign workers. I am afraid it has gotten to that point. We need laws in place to protect American workers at the hands of greedy business owners. We may need a new bill to protect American workers.
Maybe Tom Tancredo can write one before he leaves congress.
Workers that are American in a lot of cases are put last or not considered at all in favor of cheap labor. What will happen to Americans when there are no jobs for you. Or you have to learn Spanish to work. This has happened to a woman who worked for Headstart for 9 years. They fired her for not speaking Spanish. No time to learn Just plain fired on the spot.
A fire chief who lost his job because a lot of his hires were speaking Spanish. So for safety Instead of having them learn English or hiring English speakers or bilingual speakers. The fire chief lost his job.
There are two very real cases that affected the lives of hard working Americans in favor of Spanish speaking people. I wouldn't be surprised if they were illegal to boot. Time to stand up against this type of favoritism.
Who is saying American citizens have had their civil rights violated and stand up for us. Nobody but ourselves.
Job preservation is a big part of this illegal immigration fight.

We in numbers can do more than 'ONE' alone. She is so lucky to have you as a friend.

Did she contact ICE, EEOC and Attorney General Office of Her State? She should call the Attorney General's Office for sure. I bet the Head Start gets some fund from the State.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I thought the Head Start program was fairer than this. I will not be promote it anymore if this is not corrected, immediately. I have quit donating to many organizations because of behavior problems such as mentioned.
