The severed heads of two men were among four homicides registered early Friday in different sections of the city.

The heads were discovered at 7:30 a.m. Friday off a dirt road in the area of the El Florido Industrial Park near the free road to Tecate, the attorney general's office reported.

Just hours earlier, at 4:30 a.m., the dismembered body of another man was found in the parking lot of a social hall in a neighborhood southeast of downtown.

A fourth man died of bullet wounds at midnight in Tijuana's General Hospital, less than two hours after being shot while riding a bicycle in the Colonia Obrera neighborhood south of downtown.

A power struggle between drug gangs led to a spike in killings late last year, but the pace had dropped in recent months, and law enforcement officials said the two main rivals negotiated a truce.

So far this year, there have been more than 260 homicides registered citywide. There were 844 in 2008.
