Fired Dallas FBI agent hired illegal immigrants

Fired Dallas FBI agent hired illegal immigrants at Schlotzsky's in Rockwall, government says

A former Dallas FBI agent is expected to plead guilty next week to federal charges that for 11 years she used illegal immigrants to staff a Schlotzsky's restaurant she owns in Rockwall.

Ann Cox was fired by the FBI after the U.S. attorney's office filed a misdemeanor charge on July 28 accusing her of employing six illegal immigrants from 1997 to 2008.

"While operating the deli, Cox engaged in a pattern and practice of hiring and employing aliens in the United States while knowing that they were unauthorized for such employment," court documents show.

Cox has filed paperwork admitting the allegations, and is expected to plead guilty before U.S. District Judge Sidney Fitzwater in Dallas on Aug. 27. Cox’s husband is also an FBI agent but is not involved in the case, authorities say.

Cox is charged with misdemeanor unlawful employment of aliens, which can carry six months in prison and a $3,000 fine for each illegal hiring. If the judge accepts Cox's plea agreement, she could receive five years' probation, documents show.

Dallas FBI spokesman Mark White declined to comment on the case, which is a joint investigation of the Department of Justice inspector general's office and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Looks like exploiting illegal invader labor and enriching herelf in the process was more important than upholding the law and even obeying it. This is exactly why young high school and college kids are having such a hard time finding employment! This woman has no business in law enforcement. Thank goodness she's been fired.

I would never again eat at this deli if I lived in the area!

So her husband had nothing to do with the deli business for 11 years and had no idea of whatsoever this was happening?

The penalty should be much more severe for this government employee that has sworn an oath to our Constitution! Until the costs of hiring illegals becomes substantive, the practice will continue.

What a wussy punishment! IMO anyone who works in or alongside law enforcement personnel ought to receive the maximum because they are continuousley informed about our country's laws . They cant plead stupid because they knew what the law was and what the consequences were. Its such a pity that no one respects the law anymore.

Just a thought but...the punishment is far too light and will not deter anyone to do the same as she did. How 'bout....strip her of her citizenship and deport her? I would go for that.....yeah, definitely. The only problems I see in doing that are the "bleeding hearts" and the ACLU....the ACLU has their hands in virtually everything, as long as it isn't actually American....

Former FBI agent gets probation for hiring undocumented workers in her restaurant
    Posted Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010

    By Domingo Ramirez Jr.

A former FBI agent was sentenced on Wednesday morning to two years' probation for hiring undocumented workers in her Rockwall restaurant.

U.S. District Judge Sidney A. Fitzwater also ordered Ann Cox, 49, of Rockwall to pay an $18,000 fine.

Cox was sentenced during a hearing in a federal courtroom in Dallas.

Cox pleaded guilty in September to a misdemeanor offense of unlawfully employing undocumented workers.

According to federal court documents, Cox operated a Schlotzky's Deli in Rockwall from August 1997 to December 2008, and during that time she hired six undocumented workers.
