DANBURY -- Connecticut Citizens for Immigration Control announced plans to stage a protest outside The News-Times building Saturday at 9 a.m.

Paul Streitz, a founder of the group, sent an e-mail to the newspaper today. Streitz said the newspaper is not objective.

Connecticut Citizens for Immigration Control is a group that wants the U.S. to protect the border and enforce immigration laws. The group opposes amnesty for illegal immigrants.

"This demonstration will ask that the people of Danbury boycott the paper until it has objective reporting on illegal aliens and reports on the full impact of illegal immigration," Streitz said in the e-mail.

The protest was triggered by " Changes: Immigration's Impact on Greater Danbury ," a four-day series which concluded Wednesday.

"The articles try to downplay the damage and don't examine (Mayor Mark) Boughton's record on immigration," Streitz said in the e-mail." A dog and pony show. Nothing happens and more illegals come into the city every year."

Streitz also praised some aspects of the series.

An article looking at whether the federal government will enact immigration reform was "fair and balanced" and "provides new information," Streitz said, and an online video interview with Mayor Mark Boughton was "well worth listening to."

The News-Times is at 333 Main St.

I certainly hope they have a good turnout for their protest.
