Dumping aliens

For nations that exploit U.S. immigration laws to their advantage, America has become a convenient dumping ground for all sorts of undesirables. It's time this country takes out the trash.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials tell the Trib that almost 2,000 arrested illegal aliens, among them convicted criminals, have been released since 2008 because their own countries wouldn't take them back.

What better way for these nations -- among them, Cuba, Cambodia and Laos -- to dump their "problems" than in a country that doesn't police its own immigration law?

Under a U.S. Supreme Court ruling and with few exceptions, ICE officials must release illegal aliens if they are unable to deport them within 180 days. So the scum of other societies simply bides its time until it gets a free pass to continue breaking U.S. laws.

Even for those who advocate illegal aliens' amnesty, this is beyond the pale.

First, Congress must close the loophole that releases illegals, regardless of their criminal records. But equally important, nations that refuse to take back their own reprobates -- or drag their feet doing so -- should be denied U.S. entrance visas.

It's time to close the dump.
