Detainees transported to the Mainland


Federal agents, along with the Nantucket Police Department, have detained several undocumented aliens in an immigration raid of homes and job sites across the island this morning.

According to one source, federal agents had warrants for 30 individuals and had arrested approximately 18.

The detainees were being brought to the police station on South Water Street. They are being transported to the mainland via a Coast Guard vessel, which was equipped with metal chairs tied down with a rope, to accommodate the detainees.

According to one report, officials in unmarked cars were seen screening individuals driving from Essex Road.

Homes and businesses on Cynthia Lane, Surfside Road, Marianne Drive, Somerset Road, Celtic Drive and Essex Road have been targeted.

Maybe they're getting too close to Kennedy??

This is really going to tick Kennedy off. But if ICE can do that here, they can do it anywhere. Only problem, they are about 3000 illegals short!

Massive immigration raid underway

Nantucket police and federal agents swept across the island this morning in a massive immigration raid that by 7:30 a.m. had netted more than a dozen people believed to be undocumented aliens with criminal histories.

Federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents set up a processing center in the garage of the South Water Street police station, where the detainees were brought before being taken to a waiting Coast Guard buoy tender at Straight Wharf for transport to the mainland around 8 a.m.

By 7 a.m., agents had raided homes on Mary Ann Drive, Surfside Road, Celtic Drive, Somerset Road and Essex Road.
