The Arizona Senate has again rejected a bill prohibiting day laborers from seeking work on public streets and sidewalks and private property under some circumstances.

Thursday's vote followed a May defeat of the bill previously approved by the House.

Republican Rep. John Kavanagh of Fountain Hills says the bill was intended to reduce traffic disruptions caused by day laborers and help lessen problems with illegal immigration.

Day laborers, many of whom are illegal immigrants, gather on street corners, near home improvement stores and other places to seek short-term construction and landscaping work.
