U.S. Border Patrol Weekly Blotter (05/11/2011)

Border Patrol agents seized over 20,353 pounds of marijuana and 56.6 pounds of liquid methamphetamine. Agents arrested ten criminal aliens and eight gang members. There were eight rocking incidents.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior felony conviction for sexual contact with a minor and previously had been removed from the United States.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 68 pounds of marijuana, a Ford Focus, and arrested a United States Citizen (USC) and a national of Mexico near El Paso, Texas.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Fabens, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Paisa gang. Records checks revealed the subject previously had been removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 2,241 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. A scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies within the vehicle and a subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,131 pounds of marijuana and a Chevrolet Suburban near McAllen, Texas. The vehicle containing the marijuana was found abandoned in a residential neighborhood.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the Sureño gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and previously had been removed from the United States.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 219 pounds of marijuana, a Ford truck, and arrested two USCs near Deming, New Mexico.


Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Laredo, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for aggravated indecent liberties with a child and previously had been removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 56.6 pounds of liquid methamphetamine near Brownsville, Texas. Agent observed several subjects near the Rio Grande River and responded to investigate. When agents approached the subjects absconded, abandoning the methamphetamine.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Nogales, Arizona. The subject claimed to have been raped and robbed by her smuggling guide prior to her arrest. The subject was treated at a local hospital and the case was referred to the appropriate authorities for investigation.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Ocotillo, California. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior felony conviction for sex with a minor in the state of California and previously had been removed from the United States.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents attempting to arrest four suspected illegal aliens near Sunland Park, New Mexico were fired upon by unidentified subjects in Mexico. Agents were approaching the subjects when they heard gunshots and observed muzzle flashes emanating from Mexico. The four suspected illegal entrants absconded into Mexico.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 3,019 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a national of Mexico at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. A subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 3,843 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. A scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies within the trailer and a subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested ten nationals of Mexico and seized 3,589 pounds of marijuana near Menagers, Arizona. Agents observed a large group of suspected contraband smugglers make an illegal entry into the United States, and with the assistance of CBP Office of Air and Marine and National Guard air assets, arrested the subjects and seized the marijuana.


Yuma Sector – Border Patrol agents and a CBP Office of Air and Marine air asset seized 278 pounds of marijuana after responding to a report of an ultralight aircraft (ULA) incursion near Somerton, Arizona.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 4,138 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a national of Cuba at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. A scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies within the load and a subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 676 pounds of marijuana, one rifle, two pistols, and arrested five illegal aliens from Mexico near Stanfield, Arizona.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near El Paso, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Paisa gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and previously had been removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Honduras near Hidalgo, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for carnal knowledge of a juvenile in the state of Louisiana and previously had been removed from the United States.

Buffalo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Depew, New York. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the 18th Street gang. Records checks revealed the subject previously had been removed from the United States.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Sunland Park, New Mexico. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Barrio Azteca gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and previously had been removed from the United States.

The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. A scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies within the trailer and a subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Hidalgo, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for indecency with a child/sexual contact in the state of Texas and previously had been removed from the United States.
