Hotel Owner in Green River Facing Deportation

Immigration continues to be a hot issue, and most of it centers on our border with Mexico.

One immigrant, who's been here a long time, isn't from Mexico. But he is now facing deportation even though he says he followed all the rules.

It seems like everyone in Green River knows Ken Sah and his family. They own two hotels in the town. But he may not own them much longer, because he may not be here much longer. It is a situation that is completely out of his control.

Ken Sah, Green River Resident: "Of course we are disappointed very much."



Ken Sah and his wife Sarita are from India. They moved to America sixteen years ago for a better life. They only now have found out that they are being deported July 1st.

Ken Sah, Green River Resident: "I have followed all the rules and regulations of this country. I have never committed any crime. We have done everything the right way."

They have written the courts several times in the past, trying to get their citizenship, but it was always pushed back, not a priority. When their case came up recently, it was denied.

Steve Lawrence, Sah's Attorney: "The only thing that could happen is if congress passed a personal bill granting the Sah family residence."

Lawrence says, with only a few weeks left, it is going to be tough.

Steve Lawrence, Sah's Attorney: "Immigration has been very patient, they have worked with us. But in the end of the day, they have to enforce the law. And right now the law is not in the Sah family favor."

Glen Dale Johnson, Former Mayor of Green River: "Yes, it would make me very upset."

Johnson doesn't think it is fair, and has even been with Ken to meet with State Senators and other politicians. But so far, nothing.

Glen Dale Johnson, Former Mayor of Green River: " They give you good word of mouth, but they don't seem to want to do anything about it."

Ken would have to give up his two hotels in Green River, and one in North Carolina. He would also have to leave the country he loves. But still, he is not giving up hope.

Ken Sah, Green River Resident: "I have a feeling that something, somewhere might happen. I don't know whether it will happen or not, but I always think positively."

Ken said that many people told him not to go to his immigration hearing, because many don't, and don't get caught. But Ken said he wanted to be honest, and do it the right way. Now he, his wife and U.S. born son, may have to leave, unless something happens in the next three week.

That's not a ture statement. Ken can still own the hotels in the US, he just can't live here. The Hilton's have hotels all over the world. That's just BS.

Illegal is illegal, those are the rules. He can keep his hotels he just cannot live in the US. The court has ruled that he and his wife be deported that is that. Sorry guy but those are the consequences when you break the law by coming into this country illegally. It should serve as a lesson to all other illegal aliens in that area that you are not protected.

I have a feeling this guy wasn't being honest on what exactly happened. The article is more of a sob story and short on facts, but the following statement made me believe he did something wrong.
