AZ-SENATE COMMITTEE PASSES ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION BILL THAT REQ
SENATE COMMITTEE PASSES ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION BILL THAT REQUIRES INTERAGENCY ENFORCEMENT, MAKES TRESPASSING BY ILLEGAL ALIENS A CRIME
US State News
June 11, 2009 Thursday 5:21 PM EST
PHOENIX, June 10 -- Arizona State Senate Republican legislators issued the following news release:
A bill that requires the enforcement of federal immigration laws and makes trespassing by illegal aliens a crime passed the Senate Public Safety and Human Services committee today.
Sen. Russell Pearce, R-Mesa, is the sponsor of Senate Bill 1175 that further ensures the enforcement of existing federal immigration law, eliminates sanctuary policies, and allows police officers to inquire and verify the immigration status of an individual suspected of being an illegal alien.
"I have always been an advocate of eliminating sanctuary policies," Pearce said. "The costs of these crimes are far more than financial to our citizens and this bill will help make Arizona a safer place."
Once an officer has verified the unauthorized status of an individual, the bill requires the transfer of the illegal alien to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and permits the sharing of immigration status information between government agencies.
All versions of the bill, amendments, and fact sheets can be found at this link; SB 1175.For more information please contact: Sarabjit Jagirdar,

This sounds wonderful, but I have a question:
Wouldn’t an illegal alien in any building be considered trespassing? For example, schools, hospitals, etc.?
Of course, anyplace in the state technically is trespassing for illegal aliens…

In addition to that, we have laws preventing them from receiving child care assistance, in state tuition, bail, adult education classes, civil lawsuit awards and a whole plethora of other things.
AZ, along with Oklahoma now has some of the strictest laws in the country pertaining to illegal aliens and we're not done yet.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

State law cannot conflict with federal law CW.
That means that illegal aliens would not be trespassing in a hospital or school because under Fed law, they have a right to be there.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

What is does mean is that police officers can now check the immigration status of anyone who comes into contact with police and whom officers suspect as being in the country illegally- after a cursory investigation can then be turned over to ICE for deportation.
Technically, hospitals only have to provide treatment, they are not sanctuaries. In other words, police called to the hospital to investigate a case (probably is not going to happen very often, as hospitals are not going to report these people - unless compelled to do so- and that's not likely to happen) can possibly turn an individual over to ICE, AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN TREATED. Expect that to be challenged the first time it happens, if it ever happens.
But I guess we can give them the hospitals and schools for now, so long as they are being picked up and deported everywhere else in the state! And who says we are not compassionate!
It now means the state of AZ now recognizes that simply being in AZ as an illegal constitutes trespassing and is grounds for deportation!
Let's hope it passes in the AZ House!Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
Thank you! We are ready to roll.
