    English-only school tests OK'd by court

    SAN FRANCISCO – A state appeals court has ruled that California can administer school achievement tests and high school exit exams in English only, even though nearly 1.6 million students have limited command of the language.

    The First District Court of Appeal here on Thursday rejected arguments that English-only exams violate a federal law's requirement that students who speak limited English “shall be assessed in a valid and reliable manner.â€
    NO AMNESTY

    The appellate court's 3-0 ruling upholds a 2007 decision by a San Francisco judge who also ruled against the bilingual-education groups and nine school districts that sued to overturn the state's English-only testing methods.
    It looks like a California judge tried to fix this in 2007 and now it is finally fixed.

    ENGLISH ONLY
    NO AMNESTY
