Lou Dobbs Tonight
Monday, October 6, 2008

Tonight, the financial crisis continues to escalate on Wall
Street and Main Street. The stock market is plummeting today
and all our so-called leaders can manage to do is point fingers
and dig our country trillions of dollars deeper into debt.
We’ll have full coverage Plus:

* Last week, Washington swiftly approved the $850 billion
bailout for Wall Street. The Bush administration wasted no time
announcing that a 35-year-old Treasury Department official will
be the interim head of the big bailout at Treasury’s new Office
of Financial Stability. Neel Kashkari was the Assistant
Secretary for Internal Affairs at the Treasury Department. Like
practically everyone involved in this crisis, he’s also a
former Goldman Sachs banker.

* As the credit crisis worsens, many states are starting to
face their own credit crunch. Last week, California Governor
Arnold Schwarzenegger sent a letter to Treasury Secretary
Paulson to notify him that the Golden State may need a $7
billion dollar federal loan if it is unable to get much needed
financing from other sources to cover state expenses.
California is the eighth largest economy in the world and is
responsible for 13 percent of our GDP.

* Airlines are outsourcing aircraft maintenance more than ever,
according to an alarming new report from the Transportation
Department. Nine major U.S. airlines sent maintenance work to
outside contractors this year, almost twice as much as four
years ago. The outsourcing covers more than 70 percent of major
repairs and it’s going to cheap outposts in Mexico, Central
America, and Asia.
