BENTONVILLE — In a recent, open letter to President George Bush, county Republican Committee members urged the president to vigorously enforce laws already on the books against illegal immigration.

In June, Republican Committee member Jim Kippen of Garfield and others urged committee members to explore whether they could reach a consensus among themselves about what to say about the Bush administration’s immigration policy. Later, Kippen presented a letter composed by him and some other GOP Committee members.

The committee unanimously voted to send the open letter, dated Oct. 23, to President Bush.

The letter called on the president to “ vigorously enforce laws already on the books to secure our borders against illegal immigration. â€
