DENVER – The driver who killed a valet in January in a hit-and-run outside a Denver nightclub pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide on Monday.

The Denver District Attorney’s office says Norma Vera-Nolasco, 31, faces up to 12 years in prison when she is sentenced in September.

Prosecutors say Vera-Nolasco was driving drunk when she hit 21-year-old Jose Medina outside of the Rockstar Lounge at 9th Avenue and Lincoln Street on Jan. 22. She did not stop and was arrested later.

Police were able to track Vera-Nolasco down because a taxi driver followed her car after the incident. She was on a flight about to leave the country when she was arrested in Phoenix.

“It’s a great comfort to those who survive Mr. Medina that the guilty parties will be held accountable and brought to justice and they appreciate all of the public support and those who made this day possible, the taxi cab driver, the good citizens that discovered the truck and called it into the local police, those are truly the heroes and are greatly appreciated,â€

On Monday, Guadalupe Bastida, 48, and Yolada Bastida-Nolasco, 44, also pleaded guilty. Both were charged with aiding Vera-Nolasco’s escape. They face probation when they are sentenced.

Forget the probation kick their butts OUT of the Country formally! That way if they come back they will face jail time.
