CA-L.A. County inmates to have immigration status checked as
L.A. County inmates to have immigration status checked as part of new program
LA Times
August 27, 2009 | 11:11 am
All inmates booked into jails throughout Los Angeles County will have their immigration status checked beginning today, but federal officials said they don’t have the resources to deport all illegal immigrants with criminal records who are identified.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement will prioritize illegal immigrants with prior convictions for violent crimes, including murder, rape, kidnapping and robbery. Though immigration officials plan to assess every case individually, they said some with less serious criminal records may be released back into the community.
“The reality of the situation is that we don’t presently have the resources to respond to every single person,â€

LA County checks arrestees' immigration records
LA County checks arrestees' immigration records
The Associated Press
3:10 p.m. August 27, 2009
LOS ANGELES — Law enforcement agencies in Los Angeles County can now check the immigration status of arrestees when their fingerprints are taken during the booking process.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement says the so-called "Secure
Communities" program began Thursday in more than 40 agencies across the county.
The program lets local law enforcement check an arrestee's fingerprints against a federal immigration system in addition to criminal records. ICE will be notified if an arrestee's fingerprints yield a match in the immigration system.
ICE spokeswoman Virginia Kice says the program was set to come to Los Angeles earlier this year but was delayed due to technical issues.
ICE plans to roll out the technology nationwide by the end of 2013.

I can't think of a better place to put this system than L.A. County.
What they need to do now is tie into the D.M.V. fingerprint system in every state
and check every driver against the I.C.E. print records.NO AMNESTY

It's been 1 1/2 years since the callous murder of Jamiel Shaw II by an illegal alien gang member, and LA is finally announcing that they are finally going to start a new program that would have prevented Jamiel's death. What took them so long?
Perhaps it's more than a co-incidence that William Bratton resigned as LAPD Chief just before the announcement of this new program. This is something that Bratton and LA City Government should have already been doing. This is the way that Special Order 40 is supposed to work.
Of course, we'd all be better off without Special Order 40. But as long as we have to tolerate it, we should use it to screen-out the illegal aliens that fill-up our prisons.
By the way, what ever happened with the court case of Jamiel Shaw II's alleged murderer, Pedro Espinoza? Is he going to do some hard time, or what?

Good Question...
By the way, what ever happened with the court case of Jamiel Shaw II's alleged murderer, Pedro Espinoza? Is he going to do some hard time, or what?
I am CERTAIN the national media will avoid covering ANY of this story like its the plague. ONLY in the California media will you see this story progress, and ONLY on the very back pages in small blurbs in order to hide it from the American people...
Tis why we must find it and share

West California: Death Penalty Is Sought

Pedro Espinoza, 20, is accused in the March 2, 2008, shooting death of 17-year-old Jamiel Shaw Jr. near the teen's Arlington Heights home, and faces a special circumstance allegation that the murder was carried out to further the activities of a criminal street gang. Espinoza's lawyer, Csaba Palfi, said he plans to ask the district attorney's Special Circumstances Committee to reconsider the decision. "I think the D.A.' s Office is very cognizant of the pressure," he said outside court, noting that there has been "so much publicity" about the case. Espinoza is due back at the downtown Los Angeles courthouse on Oct. 23 for a pretrial hearing, with his attorney noting that it will be "some time" before the case is ready for trial. Shaw's parents have sued the county, alleging that Espinoza should been turned over to immigration authorities rather than being freed on March 1, 2008, from jail, where he had been serving time for assault with a deadly weapon. Shaw was shot at 8:30 p.m. a day later in the 2100 block of 5th Avenue while talking with his girlfriend on the phone two doors from his home. Army Sgt. Anita Shaw, who was in Iraq when her son was slain, and Jamiel Shaw Sr. mounted an unsuccessful petition drive aimed at getting a law passed that would enable police to arrest illegal immigrant gang members and hand them over to federal authorities. [1] The Los Angeles County district attorney's office announced Wednesday it will seek the death penalty against Pedro Espinoza for the 2008 killing of 17-year-old Jamiel Shaw II. Espinoza is an illegal immigrant and 18th Street gang member.[2]
The Los Angeles County district attorney's office will seek the death penalty against the 20-year-old gang member charged with killing 17-year-old high school football star Jamiel Shaw II. Shaw was several doors from his Arlington Heights home on March 2, 2008, when two men in a car pulled up next to him, asked him if he belonged to a gang and then shot him when he apparently didn't answer, authorities say.[3]
Espinoza, an illegal immigrant, had been released from the Los Angeles County jail on a gun-related charge the day before Shaw was killed. The district attorney's office said a committee made up of about a dozen prosecutors determined that the death penalty was appropriate in the case after weighing aggravating circumstances against those that might lessen the charges. The killing has sparked calls from the community to stop gang violence and set off debate about a Los Angeles Police Department policy that prohibits officers from stopping or questioning people solely about their immigration status.[3]
