Wal-Mart Passing Out Spanish Only Books

Leaving Wal-Mart today at 1 P.M. the greeter is passing out Spanish only books about women's health. I asked why there were none in English. They would have to get back to me.

Help, please call and complain.

They probably figure English speakers already know about women's health. Maybe it's about STD's??!

I just called. They transferred to a manager called Theresa. She was surprised I was offended. BTW she seemed a very nice person but misguided. She said they had lefalets in English and Spanish but the English ones ran out leaving only the Spanish ones. (well that should tel you something... maybe the Spanish speakers cant read?)

She said they have to write i Spanish because they dont want to seem prejudiced.
I explained that if I went to Mexico I would need to read and speak Spanish. Or if I went to france I would need to speak French. She was kinda starting to get it but not...

I think our problem is our OWN people are confused. they think it is prejudiced or racist NOT to write the info/leaflets in Spanish!!!!

How can we fix the mentality of our OWN people?/

I URGE you to at least make a call or two to understand the extent of this problem.

I stopped shopping at walmart when I found out that they complete racks of spanish speaking books and DvDs. I told the manager on duty that unless they also had the same for German and other languages I would now shop at other stores.

I stopped shopping at this cheesy store with it's cheesy products a long time ago, but this is just one more reason for me to never go back.

That's 30 years of conditioning to be altered. It started out in the late 60s-early 70s, but that basic philosophy is outdated now that the minorities have learned to take advantage of our good faith not to be predjudice. We have to understand that we cannot pander to everyone or they will simply walk all over you.
