CBP Officers at the Anzalduas International Bridge Seize $4.4 Million in Cocaine
(Tuesday, November 16, 2010)
Hidalgo, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Anzalduas International Bridge seized 139.7 pounds of cocaine Sunday afternoon. The estimated street value of the cocaine is $4,472,692.
On Nov.14, 2010, CBP officers working at the Anzalduas International Bridge came in contact with a northbound 2010 Dodge Nitro sedan and its male driver, a 27-year-old, Mexican citizen from Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico. After a routine primary examination, a CBP officer referred the driver and vehicle to secondary for further inspection. In secondary, CBP officers seized 57 packages allegedly containing cocaine found within the Dodge Nitro. CBP seized the vehicle as well.
The male traveler was transferred to the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement – Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) for further investigation.
Hector A. Mancha, CBP Port Director, Hidalgo/Pharr said, “I commend our frontline officers for intercepting and seizing the largest cocaine seizure at the Anzalduas crossing so far this fiscal year.â€NO AMNESTY
