Deported sex offender back behind bars

He raped an 11-year-old girl, got probation and was deport but now he's back.

Convicted sex offender Jose Alejandro Silva is back behind bars.

A federal grand jury indicted the 34-year-old man on a failure to maintain sex offender registration and illegal re-entry charges earlier this month.

Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) records show Silva was convicted of raping an 11-year-old back in March 2009.

A judge gave Silva 10 years probation and he was later deported to Mexico but he returned illegally to the United States.

Silva appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Ronald Morgan in Brownsville on Monday morning.

Judge Morgan denied bond for Silva until his Thursday afternoon arraignment.
