The latest Spanish-language trailer for the border thriller Desierto juxtaposes audio from a Donald Trump speech with scenes of Mexican immigrants being shot while crossing into the United States.
Desierto centers on a group of illegal immigrants led by Moises (Gael Garcia Bernal) as they attempt to make the dangerous crossing between Mexico and the United States. As the group journeys north, they encounter a “racist” vigilante (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and his vicious guard dog, who will do everything in their power to prevent the group from entering the U.S.
Here’s the film’s official synopsis, from STX Entertainment:
What begins as a hopeful journey to seek a better life becomes a harrowing and primal fight for survival when a deranged, rifle-toting vigilante chases a group of unarmed men and women through the treacherous U.S.-Mexican border. In the harsh, unforgiving desert terrain, the odds are stacked firmly against them as they continuously discover there’s nowhere to hide from the unrelenting, merciless killer.
The latest Spanish-language trailer for the film, released online Tuesday, uses the audio of Donald Trump’s presidential announcement speech from June.
“The U.S. has become a dumping ground for everybody else’s problems,” Trump says in the audio included in the trailer, along with on-screen Spanish translation. “When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re sending people that have lots of problems. They’re bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists. And it’s gotta stop. And it’s gotta stop fast.”
At the conclusion of this short audio excerpt, one of the crossing immigrants is suddenly shot by the vigilante’s long-range rifle.
Cut to title card: “Los Palabras Son Tan Peligrosas Como Las Balas.” In English: “Words are as dangerous as bullets.”
The film, directed by Jonás Cuarón (son of Gravity director Alfonso Cuarón), premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last fall. It’s out in theaters in Mexico April 15, while a U.S. release date has not yet been set.

They should of used the wall in Mexico and the people they put in prison there and find dead or killed in prison. Would be more realistic.
