ALTON, Texas (AP) - Federal agents are searching for suspected human traffickers after finding a South Texas house filled with 131 suspected illegal immigrants.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman Nina Pruneda tells The Monitor of McAllen (131 immigrants found in Alton stash house | alton, immigrants, stash - ICE - TheMonitor.com) the house was found Tuesday afternoon as part of an ongoing investigation. She says the house, which is about 8 miles northwest of McAllen in the town of Alton, had food and electric power.

The immigrants were mainly from Central America, and none needed medical treatment.

McALLEN — A grand jury Tuesday indicted two Honduran nationals accused of operating several stash houses in Edinburg, where authorities this month uncovered 115 illegal immigrants, some who claimed to have been held without food or water for days. The indictment accuses Vicente Ortiz Soto and Marcial Salas Gardunio, both 24-year-old Mexican nationals, with conspiracy to harbor aliens and alien harboring, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Houston said in a news release.
Then there is this one in the same area.

This in the same area also. Sounds like the border is more secure than it has ever been and illegal immigrants are going home.

Saturday’s crash came less than two weeks after two fatal wrecks with similar circumstances.

On April 10, nine of the 17 illegal immigrants aboard a Chevy Astro Van were killed — and the rest injured — when it rolled over along Expressway 83 in Palmview. The 15-year-old driver fled the scene, but was arrested two days later. He was charged with nine counts of murder, 17 counts of human smuggling causing serious bodily injury or death and one count of evading arrest with a vehicle.
