Three illegal immigrants arrested in Bismarck

Three illegal immigrants were arrested in Bismarck this weekend after two of them tried using fake identification at a Bismarck bar.

Lt. Dan Donlin said U.S. Border Patrol asked that the men be held so they could pick them up.

Donlin said Borrowed Buck's Roadhouse, 1118 S. Third St., called police at 11:21 p.m. Friday. They said a man was attempting to use a fake Iowa driver's license to get into the bar, Donlin said. He said the 29-year-old man said he was in the United States illegally from Tijuana, Mexico.

The bar called police at 10 p.m. Saturday to report a man attempting to use a fake Minnesota identification card, Donlin said. The 21-year-old man said he is from Mexico, but has been living in Minnesota illegally, Donlin said.

Donlin said a 30-year-old man was with the 21-year-old man and also admitted to being in the country illegally from Mexico. The 30-year-old man has been living in Colorado Springs, Colo., Donlin said.

He said Borrowed Bucks Roadhouse has a machine at the door that scans identification cards and driver's licenses and accesses state databases to verify that the cards are legitimate. The machine also has been successful in keeping underage people out of the bar, Donlin said.
