Aug. 20, 2013 – ICE deports Sandra Avila Beltran

A Mexican woman convicted of being an accessory after the fact in aiding cocaine traffickers, and known to international media outlets as the "Queen of the Pacific" for her alleged ties to the Sinaloa drug cartel, was deported to Mexico Aug. 20 by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO). Aug. 23, 2013 – Sierra Leone man arrested for brokering Uranium deal for Iran

Federal agents arrested a Sierra Leone man Aug. 21 for violating the International Emergency Economic Powers Act by attempting to broker the sale of yellowcake uranium to Iran. The charges resulted from an investigation conducted by ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police. Full Story

Aug. 23, 2013 – HSI, Mexican government host human trafficking awareness training

U.S. and Mexican government agencies came together to host a human trafficking training conference for judges, prosecutors, forensic specialists, psychologists and researchers Aug. 19 to 23 in Guadalajara, Mexico. Aug. 21, 2013 – Seattle-area man admits to illegally importing and selling counterfeit luxury car accessories

A Seattle-area man who sold more than $500,000 in counterfeit luxury-brand vehicle accessories pleaded guilty Aug. 21 to trafficking in counterfeit goods. Guoxiong Xian, owner of 3 Ways, LLC, sold auto parts and accessories such as license plate frames, marque license plates, automobile logos and other decorative items bearing the trademarks of BMW, Mercedes, Toyota, Nissan and others. Aug. 19, 2013 – 12 defendants charged with child sexual exploitation offenses in LA's Inland Empire

A Corona, Calif., man, who extorted minors into sending sexually explicit videos and photographs of themselves over the Internet, is among the 12 individuals charged in the Inland Empire during the last two months as part of a federal crackdown on child sex offenders. Full Story

Naco CBP Officers Intercept $392K in Meth

Naco, Ariz. - A 31-year-old Mexican national was arrested yesterday for an alleged attempt to smuggle more than 25 pounds of methamphetamine through the Naco port. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers referred the woman for a secondary inspection of her Jeep when she attempted to enter the United States. (more)

CBP, Puerto Rico Police Seize 58 Pounds of Cocaine in Car Arriving on Ferry

Fajardo, Puerto Rico - U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Border Patrol and Puerto Rico police seized early Friday 58.6 pounds (26.6 kilos) of cocaine inside the trunk of a vehicle arriving on the Fajardo ferry. The estimated value of the cocaine is $665,000 and the vehicles' driver was arrested. (more)

U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers Seize Nearly $355,000 in Cocaine and Methamphetamine at Brownsville Port of Entry

Brownsville, Texas - U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Gateway International Bridge intercepted a load of alleged methamphetamine and cocaine. CBP officers discovered the alleged narcotics, valued at approximately $354,600, hidden within a Chevrolet Cobalt. (more)
