Legislative bill to refuse benefits to Illegals

Boise, Idaho -- Another topic at the statehouse, likely to become a hot button issue during the session -- a bill that would refuse benefits to illegals.

The bill, which is still in draft form, is being authored by Caldwell Senator John McGee.

He says many of his constituents are complaining about their taxes being used on benefits for illegals, money that should be used on Idaho citizens.

According to McGee the proposed bill has already received kudos from Governor Otter, and McGee says he's also looking for bi-partisan support when it finally goes to a vote.

"Well, I think so. There's no reason for members of the minority not to support it. I mean it's very cut an dried -- if you're not a citizen of the United States, you're not going to receive benefits from the state of Idaho," said McGee.

He says there are exceptions already in the draft form of the bill, which would allow for things like emergency medicine.
