Idaho group plans to protest immigration bills

BOISE, Idaho (AP) - A coalition of Idaho groups plan to protest proposed legislation that would punish employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants with fines and suspension of licenses.

Community organizer Leo Morales says the coalition will gather at the state capitol Monday to express legal, budgetary and moral concerns over the proposed bills this session.

His group, the Idaho Community Action Network, represents migrant-worker interests and contends that only federal legislation can solve the problem.

Morales has said the main concern is that employers don't have adequate training to determine just who has a fake ID or Social Security number.
