Immigration reform activists fasting outside San Jose congresswoman's office

Four South Bay college students and an administrator are fasting this week to show their support for immigration reforms that were snuffed out last month by Congress.

The activists are gathered in front of Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren's office on North First Street in San Jose to show support for the Dream Act, an immigration reform bill that would give legal status to some illegal immigrants' children who graduated from high school.

The Dream Act - which was co-sponsored by Lofgren - was folded into President Bush's immigration reform bill that did not gain the necessary support in Congress last month.

Participating in the fast are three San Jose State University students, an Evergreen Valley College student and Richard Hobbs, a trustee in the San Jose/Evergreen Community College District. Their fast began Monday morning and is scheduled to end Thursday.

Two of the students will join a group of about 30 students from around the state in San Francisco and begin a seven-day fast in front of House leader Nancy Pelosi's office.

It's a free country. Can't someone who lives in these areas go 'observe' the fasters during their lunch hour while eating a flavorful and aromatic sandwich? Someone else can bring chocolate cake dripping with frosting. I bet even the sound of someone biting into a juicy crisp red apple will drive them over the edge. You go during your lunch hour so no one can accuse you of any funny stuff.

Okay, I guess I wish I could do this, but I don't live anywhere these locations. Anyone?

Hey fedup it was obviously another failed attempt to gain attention from the media. Whoever is coaching her to rear her fugly mug is really not that bright IMHO. She merely serves as a constant reminder to stir the boiling American pot of anger.

As ticked off as I get everytime it is brought to our attention that this anchor creator is still in our country, I realize that it really is just a matter of time before ICE gets the word to remove her. I have no doubt that they are watching her every move. Timing is everything .. . . .
